Bayside Community Outreach Bio’s
Bayside Programs & Projects
Jim
Holst has been the outreach pastor at Bayside Church since 2001. His
duties include developing programs to help the disadvantaged & needy
in the greater Sacramento area, as well as partnering with
organizations around the world to ease the pain and suffering of
those in need.. Jim is also responsible for planting and developing
new Bayside churches in this area.
Jim worked for Youth for Christ for 22 years where he led a team of
35 paid staff and over 200 volunteers while developing programs for
and working with at risk youth. He has been married to his wife
Sarah for 28 years and has three children.
Dave
Coburn is the Director of Community Outreach at Bayside Church in
Granite Bay. He was called to this volunteer position in August of
2006 and has responsibility for developing and Maintaining Bayside
programs aimed at helping the hurting, disadvantaged and lost in the
Sacramento Area reporting to Jim Holst, Bayside Outreach Pastor.
His time is spent working with individuals in need, encouraging
Bayside volunteers To participate in
programs and collaborating with local community organizations to
define needs and ways to fulfill those needs.
Dave
retired from the computer business in 2000 after 30 years. His
final assignment was directing sales in the Bay Area for Sun
Microsystems. Prior to Sun he was the CEO of Saloman Computers
which managed the Computerland franchises in The Sacramento area.
Since 2000 Dave has volunteered at a number of organizations, mostly
on a full-time basis. He spent 2 years with Habitat for Humanity in
Sacramento. His first task was working out the past-due sales
arrangements with 30 families living in Habitat homes. His second
was opening Habitat’s 40,000 sq. ft. ReStore warehouse which today
supports Habitat’s overhead and gives them a huge edge on building
new homes for the needy.
Between 2002 and 2004 Dave volunteered his time as a management
consultant aiding non-profits in the Sacramento area including:
Habitat for Humanity – El Dorado County, Habitat for
Humanity – Placer County, The Senior Legal Hotline,
The Senior Connection – Eskaton and more.
In
2004 along with his wife, Marci, Dave took on responsibilities at
Bayside for volunteer encouragement and recruitment by creating a
group called “ServeAtBayside”. They
encouraged volunteers from the growing
Bayside Congregation to get involved in serving projects both at
Bayside and in the Community. They encouraged and recruited
volunteers for most Bayside activities until 2006
