Subject: Greetings from kandahar
Good Morning!
I am Chaplain Bucur Daniel. I serve the mighty warriers of 451 AEG
Kandahar
Air Field, Afghanistan.
Upon my arrival here, Ch Wilson my predecessor, told me that you sent
him or
us a Panasonic DVD camera with a number of small DVDs.
I opened the box and learned how to use the DVD camera.
On behalf of 451 Air Expeditionary Group I would like to thank you for
thinking of us.
As you know Christmas is right around the corner. As we will gather
around
the Christmas tree to celebrate the birth of our Saviour, I thought that
it
would be nice to have all our airmen send a Christmas DVD with season's
greetings to loved ones back home. Our leadership here loves the idea.
There is one problem though. We do not have enough DVDs for every body.
According to my calculation we need about 400 small DVDs for Panasonic
DVD
camera.
Chaplain Wilson told me that if we need more DVDs I could contact you
and
let you know.
Here is my question: Do you think you can send us about 400 of the
little
DVD for the DVD camera?

Subject: A Thank-you from Iraq for Op Family Cam
To
everyone involved in Operation Family Cam:
On
Friday morning, March 16th, I logged into my email as I do
most mornings. I saw an email address I did not recognize & figured it
would be SPAM, but it wasn’t. It was a letter from a Chaplain in Iraq
who has received one of our cameras and he was writing to say thank-you.
For reasons of security, I am not forwarding the email or including the
location information. But, I wanted to share the highlights of his
email with you so you could share in this awesome Blessing. This is YOUR
AMAZING service in ACTION!!!!
First a bit of background….as I searched for contacts and camps, I
received the following email from a Chaplain here in the US who helped
find us a “point of contact (POC) in Iraq. The following is his email
to me about the POC that he had secured for a camera:
I have found an excellent POC for you. He is our priest within our
unit and has access to just the Marines your kindness and thoughtfulness
was designed for. I have already discussed the issue with him and
ironically, he was already trying to get access to the very items you
want to send, for the exact same reason. I found that strange. Maybe
it was meant to be, that I put you two together.
The priest he spoke of is Chaplain Bautista-Rojas. Ch. Bautista-Rojas
received one of our cameras and 200 blank DVDs and 200 Mailers and all
the accessories you graciously donated to make this project a reality.
Below is the email from Ch. Bautista-Rojas in Iraq:
Dear Deb
I would like to extend my sincere appreciation for your outstanding
contributions in support of the Marines, Sailors and Soldiers involved
in Operation Iraqi Freedom. You have earned my grateful appreciation
for your unselfish, faithful and devoted service.
Due to your selfless devotion, and willingness to help, your display of
volunteerism through donations has made a positive impact on the morale
of our service men and women. Volunteers like yourself have greatly
enhanced the overall quality of life for the service members of Camp
XXXXXXX, Iraq. The troops will be able to read to their children and
send DVD to loved ones. It brings the families so much peace of mind to
be able to see their loved one and not jut hear from them via e-mail or
phone.
We are very proud our Marines
and Sailors here in Iraq. The great French preacher Lacordaire once
said, “the vocation of a soldier [Marine and Sailor] is next in dignity
to the priesthood, not only because it commissioned him [her] to defend
justice on the field of battle and order on the field of peace, but also
because it called him [her] to the spirit and intention of sacrifice.”
People like you make it possible for them to be able to focus on their
mission.
God Bless you in your ministry.
Blessings.
Chaplain Bautista-Rojas
The words that come to mind to express the love and gratitude I have for
each and every one of you for making this project a reality are, “Well
done good and faithful servants”.
For His Glory,
Deb Daugherty
