Christmas
Angel 2007
Supporting
Teen Challenge MOM's
& Dad's by
supplying gifts
for their kids
for Christmas...

Thank-you for helping us complete another
successful Christmas Angel Program for 2007.
We need no further gifts or volunteers
until
November, 2008.
We have 300
gifts to provide to Mom & Dads in Teen Challenge as they reunite with
their children over Christmas break.
To
participate as a giver, come to a Bayside service and pull at gift tag
for a girl or boy of a specific age and return with a wrapped gift by
Sunday, December 2nd. The gift will be distributed to
the Teen Challenge Mom's & Dad's before Christmas so they can give them
to their kids. There will be a Christmas Angel Outreach table in
the Bayside Worship Center lobby on the following dates:
Nov. 3/4
Nov. 10/11
Nov. 17/18
Nov. 24/25
(if needed)
We need a few volunteers to help
staff the Christmas Angel outreach tables at each weekend service on the
dates above.
If you can help, click here to
volunteer:
A special thanks to
everyone that makes if possible to share the love of Jesus Christ
through the Christmas Angel program!!!
A note from Bob & Robbie Simmons...
History of Teen Challenge – The ministry was begun in 1958 in New
York City by Rev. David Wilkerson. Since that time, it has grown into an
international organization with hundreds of centers around the world.
While the ministry began with a focus on teen-aged gang members, Teen
Challenge now reaches men and women with any life-controlling problem of
any age.
Teen Challenge began in Sacramento in 1974 and SVTC now oversees an
array of community outreaches besides operating four centers where men
and women eighteen years and older can reside while they undergo the 15
to 18 month Christian-life training program. Needy minors are referred
to centers who care for minors only.
Effectiveness - Teen Challenge is one of the most successful
programs of its kind in the world today. The residential care programs
of Teen Challenge have consistently sustained a “cure rate” of between
70% and 86%.
History of Christmas Angel - Twenty years ago, a very small
church in Orangevale began supporting one of the local Teen Challenge
groups in our area, "The Alpha Henson Home". At Christmas time, the
women in the program would be allowed to return home to their families
and children. The question was asked of the director of the program,
"what do they do in the way of bringing a Christmas present home to
their children?". he said the program is done on faith and the support
of those who love this ministry. We do not have resources for anyone to
buy gifts for their children, prior to the women returning home the
little church brought unwrapped gifts for them to wrap and bring home to
their children. From that year and for the next 19 years, many men and
women of this community have supported this need of providing a gift of
Hope, Love and Support to men and women who are making a change in their
life.
What happens?
During the month of November a table will be set up with pull tags for
the children of those in the Teen Challenge progam. I am looking for
someone to support this program by standing at the Christmas Angel table
and assist those at Bayside who would like to support this ministry of
taking a pull tag to purchase a gift. The tags are posted by age for
either a girl or boy. The type of gift is up to the person pulling the
tag from the board, some have asked why not tell us what you want, but
to tell you, it's been amazing to see how God has worked through this
year after year. It happens every year, one recent incident is when a
mom opened her bag of gifts [when the gifts are returned, they are
placed in white bags for each] she began to cry and asked how did you
know my son wanted Kings things? The items that different people
purchased were all Kings related, it was a God thing!
How you can Help?
If you're available during the month of November, either one time or
multiple times, please return this email or call me one evening. My
number is 916-624-4855. Let me know what dates that you can provide
support either before or after a service, one of the primary days needed
is Saturday evening.
